This is a busy time of year, and I want to start by saying Happy Holidays to everyone, no matter what you celebrate, I wish you and yours the best!
This Christmas is a special one for me because it is the last one before my youngest child becomes an adult and heads off on her own away from home for the first time. It is so bittersweet because as a parent you want to watch your children grow and flourish while at the same time loathing the letting go part. In my case, with the youngest of four getting ready to go, it also makes me an empty nester soon. As a result, my Christmas wish list is especially short this year. What I want more than anything, is for my daughter to go out into this world and take it by storm! I want her to not only thrive but succeed at everything she does. It’s hard to fit that under the tree, but I’m hoping for a little Christmas magic.
Since it is just my youngest and myself at home this year, we decided to forgo the giant 10-foot-tall Christmas tree because it requires a lot of furniture moving and effort to get it into a position where it will fit in the house and not be in the way. Instead, we went with a minimal approach, got a tiny light-up tree from the store, and put it on a table. It’s perfect for us since we’re both giants (I’m 5’11” and she’s 6’0”) and therefore have an odd love of tiny things.
The good thing about my daughter is that she is easy to shop for. I can buy her books because she loves to read, art supplies – as she plans to be a tattoo artist once she finishes her apprenticeship, and music. I found some awesome vinyl albums from Joan Jett to Panic at the Disco and more in between. My girl has eclectic taste in music that spans decades and genres thanks to her artist’s soul.
Knowing that I have my daughter covered for all of her gifts was one thing, having time to spend with her for the holiday was another. I prepped early and released the final two books in my Aces High MC – Charleston Series on Oct. 29 and Dec. 3. In final farewell to those characters and the spirit of the holidays, I have put the whole series on sale. Normally, they are $30.91 for the full series, until Christmas Eve they are $18.91 for all nine books. Happy Holidays to everyone and I hope your new year is an amazing one!
